Mouse-adapted, intermediate-passage influenza virus replication in respiratory organs.

Ferrets (n = 2/day) were euthanized on days 1, 3, 5 and 7 after infection for titration of the following viruses: (A) P5 (MAHA), (B) P9 (MAM) and (C) P12 (MAHA/M) viruses. The virus titers in the nasal turbinates, trachea and lung were determined by measuring in terms of the TCID50 in MDCK cells. Data are representative of three independent experiments. The lower limit of detection (1.5 log10TCID50) is indicated by the dotted line.
