The spontaneous extracellular firing spikes of local RGCs.

The spontaneous firing activities of the RGCs were not affected by MNU administration at P1 and P3. However, a significant increase of the spontaneous firing rate was found in the MNU administrated retinas at P5. Subsequently at P7, the spontaneous firing rate in the MNU administrated retinas was even higher. This hyperactivity of RGCs progressed until P12 and remained stable thereafter. (ANOVA analysis followed by post-hoc test, n = 10; *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01 for differences compared with controls; #P < 0.05 for differences compared with previous time point group).
