(A) Scanning electron microscope images of eye from control (UAS-3L & GMR-GAL4) and DNMT3L expressing (GMR-3L) transgenic Drosophila. Images were captured at 200X in the upper panel. Zoomed images for the same samples were taken at 1000X and are shown in the lower panel. GMR-GAL4 - Flies containing only the GMR-GAL4 driver. UAS-3L, G5 - 5th generation transgenic UAS-DNMT3L flies (without any GAL4 driver). GMR-3L, G5: 5th generation transgenic flies expressing DNMT3L with GMR-GAL4 driver (Eye-specific).
