Intra-cardiac injection of KLK8 resulted in significant increases of phosphor-ERK1/2 and phosphor-NFκB levels, which were attenuated by administration of EGFR antagonist, PAR1 antagonist, or PAR2 antagonist.

Adenovirus particles containing KLK8 or control vector were administered to rats by intra-cardiac injection into the anterior wall of left ventricular. Rats injected by Ad-KLK8 were then treated by selective EGFR antagonist AG1478 (3 mg/kg/day, i.p.), PAR1 antagonist RWJ56110 (1 mg/kg/day, i.p.), or PAR2 antagonist FSLLRY-NH2 (1 mg/kg/day, i.p.).
