Experimental (a,c) and simulated (b,d) results are compared for single filaments in nitrogen (a,b) and oxygen (c,d) gases. Experiments and simulations (See Supplementary Fig. 3) in atomic gases (Ar and Kr), showed no anomalous behavior.
