Bacterial culture, concentration, resuspension and photography were carried out as described in the Methods section. RFI was calculated as the ratio of fluorescence intensity at 489 nm to fluorescence intensity at 547 nm. All Data were averages of three independent experiments (error bars were standard deviation from mean values).
