Two identified types of stalk cell-ECM interaction behavior.
I: “pull”. II: “migration-related push”. Similar to the tip cells, the stalk cell (in dark red) also manifested a “pulling” behavior, driving the radial movement of the surrounding beads toward itself. The “migration-related push” was also observed and involved the beads that moved along with the “shuffling” (i.e., backward and forward movement) of the stalk cell.
