WT RT = whole transcriptome reverse transcription; GSP RT = gene-specific reverse transcription; GSP PA = gene-specific preamplification. Two RNA isolation kits were tested (Qiagen and Epicentre). In workflow 1 (Qiagen) and 2 (Epicentre) whole transcriptome reverse transcriptions was evaluated against gene-specific reverse transcription. In workflow 3 the performance of gene-specific preamplification was evaluated.
