From: Mechanisms and consequences of ATMIN repression in hypoxic conditions: roles for p53 and HIF-1

ATMIN expression is repressed in response to hypoxia through mechanisms which include both HIF-1a and p53.
The involvement of both HIF-1a and p53 in the repression of ATMIN suggests that this would occur in a significant fraction of the tumour, although p53-mediated repression was more robust. The consequences of loss of ATMIN include increased sensitivity to DNA damaging agents requiring effective BER for repair and decreased expression of DYNLL1. Some of the potential consequences of loss of DYNNL1 in hypoxia are indicated and warrant further study.
