Effects of CORM-2 on the expression of membrane glycoproteins in LPS-stimulated platelets.

Platelets were stimulated by LPS and treated with CORM-2 as described in Fig. 1. All samples were incubated in the dark for 30 min, washed three times and analyzed via flow cytometry. The expression of membrane glycoproteins (GPIbα, GPVI and GPIIb/IIIa)) was significantly upregulated in LPS-stimulated platelets, whereas exogenous CO administration inhibited this upregulation (DF). Similar results were also observed in the CORM-2 pre-conditioned (AC) and delayed-treatment groups (GI). The results are shown as the mean ± SE (n = 5). *P < 0.01 compared with the control, #P < 0.05 compared with the LPS treatment. Note that LPS-induced membrane glycoprotein expression was downregulated by CORM-2 in a dose-dependent manner.
