Megalin and Dab2 abundance is reduced in brush border area of syncytiotrophoblast in placentas with malarial intervillous inflammatory infiltrates.

Megalin and Dab 2 abundance in placentas with PE and malaria-relevant inflammation (n = 3) and without PE and inflammation (n = 19) was measured using immunofluorescence assay. Medians of arbitrary fluorescence units (AFU) are reported (gray bars). Protein abundance between 2 groups was compared using Mann-Whitney test. PE – parasitized erythrocytes in the placenta at the time of delivery.
