(b,c) Spatial field distributions recorded along the light path as light passes through the LH-PhC and RH-PhC, The red arrows indicate the interfaces between the PhC and air. In the LH-PhC, the phase evolutions on either side of the interfaces are opposite. In the RH-PhC, the phase evolutions on either side are the same and the insets show light propagating through the LH- PhC and RH- PhC. The black dotted lines denote the interface between the PhC and air.
