  1. Footnote: Two-month-old transgenic HBV mice were put to death, liver and serum samples were collected. DNA was extracted from liver tissue and changes in DNA replication of HBV were determined by quantitative PCR (copy no./μg DNA). Hepatitis B excretory antigen (HBeAg) and Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels in the serum were measured by chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA, [S/CO] = sample relative light units (RLU) per cutoff). Proteins were extracted from liver tissue and HBV core (HBcAg) or HBsAg were detected by Western blot analysis. Densitometric analysis was performed. Serum parameter (alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST)) were determined with the Spotchem™II analyzer. Significant changes are given in bold.
