Identification of two putative transcriptional regulators in UpaB cluster.
(A) Chimeric feature and genetic context of UpaB cluster. The UpaB cluster was inserted in the E. coli core genes betA and ykgH in DE205B and contained four ORFs. The arrows and its direction represented the direction of transcription for proteins encoded by the four genes. (B) Schematic illustration of the conserved domains for two transcriptional regulators encoded by APECO1-1682/1683. Indicated are the predicted domains of APECO1-1682 and -1683 harbored the typical HTH motif and several putative enzyme domains for response signal receiver. (C) The sequence alignment and secondary structure prediction of the HTH motifs of APECO1-1682 and -1683 compared to LuxR family regulator GerE. The structure of HTH motifs of APECO1-1682 and -1683 were predicted as three-helical bundle structure using Phyre2 aginst the crystal structure of regulator GerE, respectively.
