From: Widespread 3′-end uridylation in eukaryotic RNA viruses

The 3′ uridine tails are present in negative-strand RNA viruses.
Tails associated with viral RNAs corresponding to H1N1 segments 7 and 8 (A) as well as RSV segments 2, 3 and 4 (B) were detected from the RSV-infected rice leaves and the H1N1-infected MDCK cells. Nucleotide compositions of the 3′ tails are shown and vertical dashed lines with numbers indicate positions of the tails on viral genomes.
