Time evolution of the extractable work of one qubit for an Ising model in a transverse field.

We compared the dynamics for N = 4000 spins and three values of renormalized transverse field λ : λ* = 1 (black solid line), λ* = 0.1 (green short-dashed line) and λ* = 1.9 (orange long-dashed line). The plots show how non-Markovian memory effects allow to retain or regain extractable work, leading to a thermodynamic enhancement compared to the Markovian case (black solid line).
