The link size between haplotypes is proportional to the number of substitutions (s) and indels (id). In brackets, it is indicated the sum of nucleotides involved in the indels. SF3 was composed of six sequences corresponding to five different satDNAs, with lengths ranging between 231 and 274 bp. Note that they constitute a heterogeneous collection of satDNAs showing common descent and displaying all patterns of chromosome location and thus illustrating how long satDNAs may evolve by changing sequence and chromosome location patterns (see Table 1).
