Citrate enhanced the effect of EGCG on HCC cells.

(AC) HCC-LM3 and HepG2 cells were treated with EGCG (50 and 100 μM) with or without citrate (5 mM) for 24 h. At the time points indicated, the following measurements were performed: lactate production (A), 2-DG uptake (B), cell proliferation rate (C). (D) Western blot analysis of cleaved-caspase 3 and PARP of HCC cells treated with EGCG (50 μM), citrate (5 mM), or combination for 24 h. β-actin was used as a loading control. Plotted values represent the mean ± standard error of three independent experiments (n = 3) (+P < 0.01).
