The deprivation of ndk inhibits quorum sensing hierarchy.
PAO1, Δndk and Δndk+ strains were inoculated into LB broth (initial OD600 of 0.01) and cultured at 37 °C for the indicated time. The bacteria harvested at 6 h and 12 h were dissolved in TRIzol for gene expression analysis (a). The 3-oxo-C12-HSL and C4-HSL in the bacterial culture media were detected with a well-diffusion assay (b) and calculated by the measurement of gray value using Image J software (c). The PQS production in the bacterial culture medium was analyzed with HPLC (d) and the representative diagrams (12 h) were presented in (e).
