The experimental setup consisting of (from left to right) the X-ray tube, the source grating G0, the phase grating G1, the sample (cylinder) and the tomographic rotation axis (indicated by the black arrow pointing upwards), the analyzer grating G2 and the X-ray detector.

The inter grating distances l and d were both 92.5 cm. Further details on the setup can be found in ref. 12. During a CT scan the sample is rotated around the tomographic axis while images are acquired for several angles φ.
