The elasticity of the plasma membrane of WT, KO and KO expressing NM1-Flag (KO+NM1) cells was measured by AFM. While WT cells display a wide range of elastic properties, NM1 KO cells have a narrow distribution of YM and are generally more elastic. In a rescue experiment, KO+NM1 cells show intermediate elasticities between KO and WT cells. Young’s modulus values are visualised as density plots, where density refers to the relative likelihood for the Young’s modulus to take on a value in the given range (A) or as boxplots (B).
