In terms of pattern complexity, Snowy Plovers nested on background substrates with more edges, which likely enhances camouflage. In terms of disruptive coloration, Least Terns and Snowy Plovers appeared to use different strategies to enhance camouflage. Least Terns had less detectable edges in the egg contours, whereas Snowy Plovers had a lower Disruptive Ratio to achieve better camouflage.
