VP24 and VP28 anchor on the outside viral envelope membrane, while VP26 anchor on the inside viral envelop membrane. The proteins would have a reversible monomer to trimer transition. VP24 could bind to chitin via its β9 strand (colored by red) which may draw the distance between WSSV and host cell closer and help VP28 to attach the host cell and the virus enter the cytoplasm.
