The heatmap is obtained from the two-way hierarchical clustering of the 18 datasets against the 152 most significantly enriched/depleted signatures from MSigDB (nominal p < 0.05 by GSEA algorithm). The 152 signatures form three clusters, Cluster 1, 2, and 3. The 18 datasets also form three clusters, called Type 1 (glia and lung), Type 2 (breast), and Type 3 (colon, prostate, and ovary, or “others”) in the text.
