Metformin inhibited the activation of NF-κB/HIF-1α signal in vivo.

(A) IHC staining showed different expressions of HIF-1α, p-p65, GLUT1, and Bcl-2 in the cisplatin-treated, metformin-treated, and cisplatin + metformin-treated groups. TUNEL assay showed variable apoptotic conditions in each group. (B) Statistical analysis showed significantly lower expression of NF-κB/HIF-1α signal protein change in metformin and metformin plus cisplatin treated groups. (*p ≤ 0.05; **p ≤ 0.01; ***p ≤ 0.001).
