TM indicates tomato monoculture; TC means tomato grown with potato onions; and 10 d, 20 d and 30 d indicate companion cropping with potato onion for 10, 20 and 30 days, respectively. 30 d + Vd1 indicates companion cropping with potato onion for 30 days with simultaneous Vd1 inoculation starting at day 20. Vd1 indicates V. dahliae race 1. The data are presented as the means ± SD, n = 3. The asterisk (*) indicates a significant difference between two groups of mean values (p <0.05).
