Superscripts e and n denote the electron spin of Rb and the 21Ne nuclear spin, respectively. The pump beam polarizes the Rb electron spin to Pe, and the nuclear spins are polarized by the electron spins to be Pn. The nuclear spin experiences the magnetic field Be produced by Pe, and the electron spins experience the magnetic field Bn produced by the nuclear spins. A magnetic field Bc, which is equal to Be + Bn, is applied to reach the magnetic field self-compensation state. Thus, the electron spins experience the magnetic field Be which increases the spin exchange relaxation rate of the Rb atom spins.
