(C), Gene expression profiles of E. coli-infected embryos at different time points are depicted in a heat map. Bacterial defense-related and hematopoiesis-related genes in the heat map are ordered in functional groups. All genes included in the heat map are represented by a minimum of two probes that showed significant up- or down-regulation (significance cut-offs for the ratios of infected versus control groups were set at 2-fold).
