TGFβ1-miR-26a/30c signaling network leading to kidney fibrosis in diabetic nephropathy.
Under diabetic nephropathy conditions, the TGFβ1 level is increased, resulting in reduced miR-26a and miR-30c expression. miR-26a and miR-30c coordinately inhibit CTGF expression, leading to decreased phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38. In addition, miR-30c can suppress Snail expression. ERK1/2 and p38 suppression and Snail1 expression together contribute to kidney fibrosis. This new multicomponent network contributes to the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy.
