Reagents and solvents are the following: (a) NiCl₂ or PdCl₂, ethanol/water (v/v = 20:1) (reflux); (b) cis-Pt(DMSO)₂Cl₂, ethanol/CH₃CN (v/v = 20:1) (reflux).
