The SL1263 and SL1896 genes are located in Salmonella genomic islands that are absent in E. coli K-12. The regions different in S. Typhimurium SL1344 with respect to those of E. coli K-12 MG1655, as well as the region present in S. Typhimurium SL1344 but not in S. bongori NCTC 12419, are indicated (see text for description). Pseudogenes are marked with an X. Broken arrows represent long genes.
