Monthly averages of net primary productivity (2012–2015) and sailfish utilization distribution (UD) on the Campeche Bank (a), East Mexico Shelf (b), Mississippi-Alabama Shelf (c), and in Mexico Basin (d). These areas are selected as utilization hotspots with their boundaries defined by the quarterly 50% UD contours (c.f. Fig. 8). The smaller the UD, the higher utilization an area gets. Notice y-axes are scaled for better visualization.
