Surfactin stimulating inflammasomes in macrophages.

(A) Stimulation with SFN in vitro. SFN (5 μg/ml) obviously increased genes transcription of four inflammasomes (NLRP1, NLRP3, IPAF and AIM2), caspase-1 and IL-1 in Raw 264.7 cells, which could be inhibited by pre-treatment with ROS inhibitors (NAC or RT). (B) SFN significantly promoted IL-1β production by Raw 264.7 cells, which could be inhibited by pre-treatment with ROS inhibitors. (C) Stimulation with SFN (100 μg/mouse) in vivo. SFN significantly promoted NLRP1, caspase-1 and IL-1 transcription in the peritoneal macrophages. The group with stars is significantly different from other groups.
