(aā€“f) mRNA expressions of FXR, CAR, SHP, ASBT, CYP3A4, and FGF19 were significantly higher in the ileum compared to in the colon. (g) OSTĪ± expressions were similar between the ileum and the ascending colon, and significantly lower in the sigmoid colon. (h) OSTĪ² mRNA was uniformly expressed in all three examined parts of the intestine. mRNA expression levels are presented as fold-change relative to controls, and normalized relative to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH).
