The transition from the Rashba type topological trivial state to the topological non trivial quantum state at PC ~2 GPa is indicated by the minimum resistivity level. Insets show schematics of the energy band inversion across the topological quantum phase transition. Magenta denotes the conduction band, whereas cyan denotes the valence band. At PC, the surface metallic state was represented by the Dirac Cone, which comes from the inversion of the Bi 6pz orbital and Te/I-5pz orbitals.
