The unit of nitrification and denitrification is μg N/kg SDW h, and that of respiration is μg C/kg SDW h. N, D and R are short for nitrification, denitrification and respiration, respectively. (1) The first-layer soil: soil sampling depth is 0–10 cm in the vegetable garden and corn field, and is 0–20 cm in the rest vegetation covers; (2) The second-layer soil: soil sampling depth is 10–20 cm in the vegetable garden and corn field, and is 20–40 cm in the rest vegetation covers; and (3) The third- layer soil: soil sampling depth is 20–30 cm in the vegetable garden and corn field, and is 40–60 cm in the rest vegetation covers.
