The bars represent the mean values of three independent experiments, and the error bars indicate the standard deviations. Viable count of L. salivarius REN and LiCl-treated strains for adhesion to HT-29 cells were respectively 960 ± 90 and 673 ± 52 bacteria/100 cells. There was significant difference (*P < 0.05) in the adhesion of LiCl-treated L. salivarius REN compared with that of the untreated strains.
