Ferrets were vaccinated with 2 doses of monovalent A/Viet Nam/1203/2004 (H5N1) (Sanofi-Pasteur) 3.5 months prior to challenge with homologous wild-type virus. Graph indicates the pre-challenge antibody titers measured at 3 months post-vaccination by hemagglutination-inhibition assay (HAI), virus neutralization (VN) assay, neuraminidase-inhibition (NAI) assay, and ELISA for vaccine-specific IgG-antibodies. Dashed line at Y = 10 indicates detection threshold for HAI, VN and NAI, while dashed line at Y = 100 indicates detection threshold for flu-specific IgG. Individual ferrets are assigned its respective symbol within its vaccine group (colored as ○ for naïve, ● for unadjuvanted, for MF59 and for AS03) and is tracked as such for the remainder of this manuscript. Summary statistics for the antibody titers (expressed as Geometric Mean Titers, GMT with 95% Confidence Intervals) are as listed in the summary table.
