The Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) is launching two new distance-learning modules for dental care professionals (DCPs): a standalone introductory module in Reflection in Practice and a Key Skill module in Dental Materials.
The online Reflection in Practice module has been designed specifically for DCPs with the aim of providing a framework for critical reflection on the academic work and day-to-day dental roles of a DCP.
The Dental Materials module is an eighth Key Skill, bringing new educational opportunities for DCPs who wish to develop their skills in this particular area. The Key Skills in Primary Dental Care assessment is a distance-learning CPD programme in the skills identified by the FGDP(UK) as being vital to a high standard of patient care. The programme carries up to 70 hours of CPD and subject areas covered include medical emergencies, infection control and radiography.
Although the Dental Materials module is available for all dental roles, dental technicians can now replace the Key Skill in Radiography with Dental Materials in order to meet their CPD requirements.
