Afolaranmi et al. analyze data from four databases on funded cancer research projects in Africa, over a 20-year period. They report an increasing trend in cancer research funding; however significant disparities exist in regional distribution and cancer types funded, with over-reliance on external funders prominent in Sub-Saharan African countries.
