  • Improved understanding of the tumor ecosystem in glioblastoma is critical for developing new treatment strategies for the disease. Here, the authors identify pericytes as an active paracrine signaling hub within the tumor parenchyma that orchestrates a tumor-suppressive microenvironment, suggesting pericyte preservation as a key feature of future therapeutic regimens for glioblastoma.

  • Silencing of endogenous retroviruses is crucial for maintaining transcriptional and genomic integrity of cells and is maintained by histone H3K9 methylation and/or DNA methylation in various cell types. Here the authors show that loss of DNA methyltransferase DNMT1 in endoderm results in ERV derepression while H3K9me3 is unaltered.

  • SUV4-20 members mediate the di- and trimethylation of lysine 20 on histone H4. A chemical screen led to the identification of A-196 as a potent and selective inhibitor of SUV4-20 that decreases H4K20 methylation and alters DNA damage response.
