Supercooled water is expected to undergo two glass transitions, but their experimental observation is technically challenging. Here, the authors demonstrate the application of X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy at elevated pressure to tackle this problem and observe a glass transition in high-density amorphous ice at around 0.08 ± 0.02 GPa that occurs at higher temperatures compared to ambient conditions.
