  • Combining magnetic and optical control in a single system opens possibilities for spin-switchable optoelectronics. Herein, Dryzhakov et al. create a heterostructured magnetic/semiconducting system consisting of a 2D-superlattice perovskite (4,4-DFPD2PbI4) film with a cobalt layer and demonstrate a spin-switchable circularly polarized luminescence.

  • Dou et al. report photo-induced long-lived polar states in octahedral copper-based hybrid perovskites with Jahn-Teller distortion. These states arise from reversible light-induced slow structural deformation induced by polar lattice microstrain formation.

  • High-throughput automated synthesis is used to investigate the crystallization behaviour of two-dimensional (2D) halide perovskites (HPs) based on a bulky ligand cation, 3,3-diphenylpropylammonium. The solution-processed 2D HP flakes realize a moiré superlattice, indicating the formation of a twisted 2D stack via self-assembly action.

  • A biased atomic force microscopy tip can write complex in-plane polar topologies in a model ferroelectric Pb0.6Sr0.4TiO3 by means of a smart scan path design. Hence, on-demand generation, reading and erasing of tunable topologies is possible.

  • Understanding the underlying spin- and photo-physics of ultralong-lived light emission in organic materials remains a significant challenge. Here, the authors report spin-orbital coupling and slow phonon effects in light-emitting organic molecules and elucidate their underlying physics.
