Electrochemical C–N coupling of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural with methylamine offers a sustainable route to produce value-added amines. Here, the authors present a facet-controlled Ag catalyst that tunes the substrate adsorption geometry and hydrogenation propensity for promoted selectivity.
