High-throughput characterization of HLA-E-presented CD94/NKG2x ligands reveals peptides which modulate NK cell activation

HLA-E is a highly conserved MHC-l recognized by NK and T cells. The authors characterize HLA-E-presented peptides recognized by CD94/NKG2x, identifying human and CMV-derived peptide ligands which can modulate NK cell activity when presented by HLA-E, including for selective NK cell activation.

Functional characterization of a multi-cancer risk locus on chr5p15.33 reveals regulation of TERT by ZNF148

Genetic variants at multiple loci of chr5p15.33 have been associated with susceptibility to numerous cancers. Here the authors show that the association of one of these loci may be explained by a variant, rs36115365, influencing telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) expression via ZNF148.

Amphiphilic nanocarrier-induced modulation of PLK1 and miR-34a leads to improved therapeutic response in pancreatic cancer

Treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is still challenging and patients survival has only marginally improved in the last decade. Here the authors produce a PGA-based polymeric nanocarrier for the dual delivery of miR-34a-mimic and PLK1-targeting siRNA resulting in killing of pancreatic cancer cells in vivo.
