Measuring single-nanoparticle wetting properties by freeze-fracture shadow-casting cryo-scanning electron microscopy

Being able to determine the wetting properties of individual nanoparticles would aid the preparation of particles with controlled surface properties. Isaet al. develop an in situ freeze-fracture shadow-casting method and use this to determine structural and thermodynamic properties of various 10 nm particles at fluid interfaces.

Ethanol consumption inhibits T_FH cell responses and the development of autoimmune arthritis

Moderate consumption of alcohol is associated with protection from some autoimmune diseases. Here the authors show that ethanol and its metabolite acetate can protect mice from collagen-induced arthritis and provide evidence that the mechanism of this effect might be via inhibition of the effector function of T follicular helper cells.
