The necroptosis-inducing kinase RIPK3 dampens adipose tissue inflammation and glucose intolerance

The kinase RIPK3 initiates necroptosis, which has been reported to promote inflammation in various pathological conditions. Here, the authors show that genetic ablation of Ripk3results in adipocyte apoptosis and white adipose tissue inflammation in obese mice, which promotes glucose intolerance.

Establishment of gastrointestinal assembloids to study the interplay between epithelial crypts and their mesenchymal niche

Most intestinal organoid models do not accurately model the interactions between epithelial and stromal cells. Here they establish a colon assembloid system with epithelial and stromal cells and demonstrate that BMP signals from differentiating epithelial cells promote mesenchymal niche organization.

Space charge governs the kinetics of metal exsolution

The self-assembly of metallic nanoparticles on oxide supports via metal exsolution relies on dopant transport, but strong electrostatic gradients and space charges typically control the properties of surfaces. The surface–dopant interaction is shown to be the main determining factor for the exsolution kinetics of nickel in a perovskite system.
