Acute lung injury (ALI) carries high mortality with limited treatment. Here, the authors show in mice a brain-lung circuit wherein CRH neurons activation in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus (PVN) attenuates ALI by limiting neutrophil hyperactivation.
