Sanguinarine is a plant-derived benzylisoquinoline alkaloid that exhibits diverse pharmacological activities. Here, the authors report the complete biosynthesis of sanguinarine and halogenated derivatives using engineered yeast strains through a temperature-responsive dynamic control strategy.
