  • Compton scattering provides information on the Fermi surface (FS) hence very useful to understand the electronic structure of high temperature superconductors. Here, Yamase et al. perform Compton scattering measurements on La2−xSrxCuO4 samples and observe deformed FS in CuO2 plane due to nematicity but recovering fourfold symmetry in bulk FS.

  • Recent research has revealed plasmon excitations in high-Tc cuprates, raising an important question—how do they renormalize the electron property? Here, the authors investigate plasmon-electron excitations and show that the cuprates can host plasmarons, quasiparticles coupling to plasmons, which are driven by strongly correlation effects.

  • Electron or hole doping of cuprates is a well-known method to create a superconducting system, but its charge dynamics remains elusive. Here the authors theoretically demonstrate that the high-energy charge fluctuations are understood in terms of acoustic-like plasmons and are universal for both the hole and electron doped cuprates.
